Field Day, June 29-30, 2014, was held at Spirit Mound State Park north of Vermillion. www.spiritmound.com There was a potluck supper for members and their families and visitors on Saturday night June 29th at 5:30 pm at the Field Day site.
It was a rainy, buggy Field Day with 3 rain storms and plenty of lightening. Fortunately there was no high winds or hail. This year a falling derrick tower erection system designed by AA0F and W0SD was used. The tower was 62 foot high using a HEX beam and rotor. There were 40 and 80 meter dipoles. The class was 2A and we had a CW and RTTY station with a six meter and GOTA station. Again this year Bill W0EJ was the GOTA coach.
Operators were W7XU, N0QJM, KJ0M, AE0P, W8MHW, W0SD, W0OE, WA0QLP, AD0JN, AD0DN, KD0TGH, KE0AOJ, WA0GMH, WD5JRL, W0EJ, N0MHL, K0YKN, NU0E. 1594 contacts were made. Our total score with bonus points is projected to be 7290 points.
